I feel Congressional Candidates Democrat Morris Guller and Republican John Wallace have failed to appreciate that the principles upon which this country was founded should lead them to re-evaluate their positions regarding proposals for solving the immigration crisis in this country.

People from all over the world should be welcome to migrate to America. The world is populated by many people wishing only for liberty and the opportunity to be productive workers providing as best they can for their own need and the needs of their families.

They should not be denied this opportunity on the basis of sex, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality or any other selective test.

We wish for them to pursue their dreams and to respect the rights of others in so doing.

We wish, of course, for them to refrain from any criminal activity and we also wish for them to abide by our laws, but we must recognize that our laws are not always just.

If I, as a citizen, wish to offer employment to someone willing to do put in an honest day's work, that should be my business and not for someone else to inquire as to whether they have a "work permit." Should that person not be a citizen, let us remember that they have entered the country by invitation which may have been extended to them for any number of reasons, whether expressed and implied.

As a nation, it is acceptable that we limit migration to our country to those who would not threaten our collective or individual survival. Cultural or religious differences do not threaten our survival.

Therefore, it is not unreasonable to ask that those coming to our country do so by various entry points. It is not unreasonable for those seeking to migrate and for those who would welcome them, to insist that the entry points be operated in such a way as to allow all people to enter who do not pose such a threat.

If our government fails to "man the doors" for the free movement of people in and out of the country is there any wonder that they come through "the basement windows".

So they didn't abide by the rules, rules ostensibly made for our protection, but administered in ways that deprive me of my rights as a host and their right as a guest.

We call them illegal aliens, a disgusting term in the sense that as human beings they should not be regarded as either "illegal" or "aliens" While they have violated the law, they are not criminals, and the recognition of the law's failure and stupidity in both intent and enforcement does not constitute "amnesty for criminals."

On the contrary, it constitutes a reevaluation and correction our own errors.

If citizens are concerned about immigrants taking the jobs that should go to Americans, they need to understand that no one is entitled to a specific job.

If citizens are concerned about immigrant taking advantage of the various welfare and entitlement programs America offers, that is a problem that we need to address by learning that the "entitlement mentality" is not in the best long term interest of this country for neither citizen nor immigrant.

Bill,

My only concern about this post is that the show you are referencing hasn't been posted yet. Hopefully John will have it up by the weekend and any thoughtful discussion about the position of guests can be had at that time.

We should also be careful about assailing or broadsiding guests, this may create a difficult situation for attracting them in the future. Granted you are looking at their positions, not attacking on a personal basis.

My two cents . . . ECS

Dear Mr. McMillen:

Thanks for watching Capital Outsider and for your interest in this Congressional race and on this issue in particular.

I, as much as anyone, do appreciate the principles on which our country was founded.

The principles of Freedom and Law and the guarantees they provide to us are the foundation of our nation.

Fair play is also an important element in upholding the American dream. People who attempt to jump to the head of the line (of immigration into our nation) deny that privilege to those who's desire to come to America is just as strong and who play by the rules.

If you feel the laws are not just then we might consider amending the laws or giving special consideration to those coming from specially designated countries (like Cuba).

However, until the laws are changed or amended, those laws must be upheld. That's were my comments were coming from.

Again, thanks for watching and commenting.

Best,

Morris Guller

I acknowledge that the United States has been built on the talents and sacrifices of immigrants starting with the first settlers. While this nation has always accepted newcomers it did so by establishing a system of eligibility. America has never promoted open borders. In recent decades our nation has been burdened with an invasion of illegal aliens who have taken jobs away from American citizens and legal resident aliens and who are active participants in violent gangs and other illegal activities. It has been estimated that more than 25% of the inmate population in the jails throughout the United States are illegal aliens. These Illegal Aliens and their families are also a drain on our social services, schools, hospitals and the taxpayers.

The American people have a right to a secure and sovereign country. We also have a right to know the identity of people who are entering our country both legally and illegally. America must remove the incentives that attract illegal aliens to our country and we must enforce the laws that are currently on the books by prosecuting and deporting illegal aliens. Our government cannot be seen as granting amnesty or any other protection to those who willfully break our laws. Until we enforce a policy that treats illegal aliens as lawbreakers, we will never have a successful policy of stemming the flow of this illegal invasion.

Labor Unions in this country have fought long and hard to provide American workers with a reasonable work week and safe working conditions that we often take for granted. When Americans are driven out of their jobs by illegal aliens who work for far lower wages, oftentimes under unsafe and unhealthy working conditions, it is time to act. Many of the employment benefits provided to America's working men and women are now being eroded by unscrupulous criminal employers who hire illegal aliens to cut their expenses and maximize their profits at the expense of American citizens.

Most Americans are in favor of controlled immigration. The keyword here is “controlled.” We have a right to control who comes here and who does not. The legal immigration system of the United States welcomes people who share our values, our culture and want to follow the rules in order to become citizens of this great country.

I applaud the private citizens who are offering their services to law enforcement to help secure our borders and I condemn any state, country or local government that offers “sanctuary” to illegal aliens by instructing their law enforcement and social service agencies to refuse to assist immigration authorities in their efforts to stem the flow of these law breakers into our society.

Although the power to regulate immigration is a plenary power of Congress under Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution, it has become obvious that the federal government has failed to secure our nation's borders against illegal immigration and that its failure undermines the rule of law, violates our national sovereignty, and imposes intolerable social and fiscal burdens on the American people.

Because the federal government appears to be following an “open borders policy” in regard to dealing with the Illegal Alien invasion, I propose the following Ten Point program to address the issue:

1. SECURE THE BORDER
2. NO AMNESTY FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS
3. ELIMINATE ILLEGAL ALIEN ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT
4. NO GOVERNMENT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO ILLEGALS
5. ANCHOR BABIES SHOULD NOT BE CITIZENS
6. FUND INTERIOR ENFORCEMENT BY STATE AND LOCAL POLICE
7. CREATE A FEDERAL DATABASE ON ILLEGAL ALIENS TO HELP FIND THEM
8. DEPORT ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS WHEN RELEASED FROM PRISON
9. DENY FEDERAL GUARANTEED LOANS AND MORTGAGES TO ILLEGAL ALIENS
10. IMPOSE SANCTIONS ON COUNTRIES THAT DO NOT ACCEPT THEIR DEPORTED CITIZENS BACK
