I feel Congressional Candidates Democrat Morris Guller and Republican John Wallace have failed to appreciate that the principles upon which this country was founded should lead them to re-evaluate their positions regarding proposals for solving the immigration crisis in this country.

People from all over the world should be welcome to migrate to America. The world is populated by many people wishing only for liberty and the opportunity to be productive workers providing as best they can for their own need and the needs of their families.

They should not be denied this opportunity on the basis of sex, race, ethnicity, religion, nationality or any other selective test.

We wish for them to pursue their dreams and to respect the rights of others in so doing.

We wish, of course, for them to refrain from any criminal activity and we also wish for them to abide by our laws, but we must recognize that our laws are not always just.

We're experiencing technical defugalities, all for the better.
Please excuse our site look and feel for the next few days.

Libertarian Response to Governor

Governor Eliot Spitzer's State of the State address last Wednesday (January 9th) was long on goals and short on ways to accomplish them. He did say that there would be no new taxes. He acknowledged that the general economic situation was not good but made no reference to the budget deficit of $4 billion that the state faces this year.

How he plans to pay for achieving the goals he set out will have to wait until he presents his budget on January 22. Whether it will "adapt to fiscal realities" exhibit the "hard choices" and indicate a willingness to "live within our mean" will have to wait for then.

One thing is sure however, new programs in the areas of education, heath care, housing, public safety will be costly and unless the Governor is willing to recommend and the legislature will adopt cuts in other programs; the burden of such new programs will be passed on to the people of New York State in one form or another.

Capital Outsider is scheduled to air Thursdays at 6 PM on the public access channel in Albany, Rensselaer, Troy, Saratoga Springs and parts of Glens Falls. If you live in one of these areas and it's not on, let us know, so we can find out why.
