December 2007 Archives

We've had Morris Guller and John Wallace on the show and hope to see them together sometime in 2008. But it occurs to me that an invite to the other candidates would be appropriate. If declared candidates in New York's 20th Congressional district would like to appear on Capital Outsider, please let us know at: info (at) capitaloutsider.org. I'll even relent to letting Mounteer interview you, he'll give you a fair shake.

Happy New Year all.

Eric Sundwall

Just before we started rolling with Capital Outsider at the end of the summer, I interviewed Libertarian write-in candidate Kent McManigal down in Pennsylvania. Kent is a unique fellow. He's recently been interviewed by Angela Keaton and also got some play over at the Seattle Times. Here's the interview ( I promise all future interviews will have the audio issues resolved).

Just doing our part to keep up with the MSM POTUS hype.

Mike Lynch and I made it to the 25th Anniversary of the Ludwig Von Mises Institute back in October. After some in studio taping, file shuffling and video editing, we have a final product. Please disregard the cryptic references to '8's' in our last segment, there's no conspiracy here . . .

Our little crew was left without the guests we expected, so we took the opportunity to do what everyone else is doing this holiday and political season. Special thanks to Mike Lynch, he's the only guy working here.

I witnessed the drawing for ballot position for the February primary at the NYS Board of Elections this morning . They use a Bingo set to randomly pull numbers to determine the order that candidates appear on the ballot.

Ron Paul was first on the candidate list thanks to Jim Ostrowski's early request submission to the Board, and the first ball drawn was number 1! so Ron Paul will be at the top of the primary ballot!

I assume that primary voters are a little more motivated than those in the general election, and that ballot position is not as important because of this, but it certainly can't hurt.

For those who are interested, here's how the candidates will be placed:

1 Ron Paul
2 Alan Keyes
3 Duncan Hunter
4 Tom Tancredo (although I just heard he's bowed out)
5 Rudy Giuliani
6 Mitt Romney
7 Mike Huckabee
8 John McCain
9 Fred Thompson

John Mounteer sat down with Lynn Jackson from Save the Pine Bush. Here's the show:

After appearing on Gary Popkin's 'Hardfire' twice during the 2006 campaign, he let me interview Phil Maymin almost a year to the day. Hardfire is filmed at BCAT studios in Brooklyn. Like any large city, the facility is well financed and very professional. This was my first official studio interview. The success and quality of Hardfire has influenced our own effort here at Capital Outsider. Thank you Gary.

Just filling space until John gets the two new shows up . . .

We taped two shows last night and expect them up soon. Our second show was about the race for the White House. One of our future guests, Libertarian candidate George Phillies, sat down with me in Portland during the LP convention in 2006. It was my first 'interview'. If I host the Capital Outsider show with George, viewers can compare how far each of us has come. Perhaps John or Bill would do a better job. You tell us. Here's the clip;

Today I dropped off 4 episodes of Capital Outsider at Time Warner on High Bridge Rd in Schenectady. If there are no problems they will begin broadcasting the show on their public access channel in January. This will cover Albany, Troy, Rensselaer, Saratoga Springs and parts of Glens Falls. I believe the PA channel in all those areas is channel 18. When they tell me the exact day and time of broadcast, I'll pass that info on.

The 4 shows I dropped off were:

John Wallace with host Eric Sundwall
Robert Ward with host John Mounteer
Morris Guller with host Eric Sundwall
Jeff Gaul with host Bill McMillen

We're on the verge of completing our eighth show since September and expect two more in the studio in December. That's grand total of ten shows in four months. old_tv.jpg

We hope to have distribution in the Time Warner networks in Albany, Troy, Saratoga & Glens Falls by January. Right now we air on Channel 16 in Schenectady on Saturday night at 8 PM and Sunday night at 10:30. We've been told by Station Manager Todd Wilson that WNYA wants to pick us up.

We hope to ramp up production quality, website functionality and appearance in the upcoming year. We have many interesting guests appearing and hope that you can send us your stories and interests too. This week alone we're averaging 110+ users a day at this website.

Of course you can watch us on the Internet anytime. Stay tuned.
Thanks to everyone involved and interested viewers.
